According to Ayurveda, Doshas or biological elements are the regulating forces of our body and mind. A healthy body indicates the equilibrium or balance of the three Doshas namely – Vatta, Pitta and Kapha. These three Doshas together is the energy that regulates the physiological processes in our body. The fundamental concept of Ayurveda is that everything in universe is derived from five elements (pancha bootha): earth, water, air, fire and space. The three Doshas are formed when the prana (breath) mixes with these five elements. Vata is made up of space and air, pitta of free and water and Kapha is composed of earth and water.
The properties of three doshas are :
Vata : Vata dosha is known as the King of Doshas and is mainly found below the navel region. It is the energy that governs all the movement and all biological activities associated with motion like breathing, blood circulation,movements of muscles and tissues, heartbeat, talking, urination,etc. Vata imbalance can cause anxiety , fear, dryness,etc in people.
Pitta : Pitta dosha is the energy that governs the metabolic activities of the body like digestion, absorption , nutrition ,body temperature.It is located mostly between the the heart and the navel region.Pitta imbalance cause anger, hotness and ulcers.
Kapha : Kapha dosha is the energy that governs the development or growth of the body lubrication. It provides lubrication to all parts of the body .It also help to moisten the skin .It is mainly found above the heart.Kapha imbalance cause melancholy, envy, depression,etc.
